This course series represents the first, and most critical, the step of your transformation from contributor to leader. Over the course of three and a half days, you will work with industry experts to create custom leadership development plans, explore the attributes of effective leaders, study proven negotiation techniques, and more.

Plus, to support your educational goals and personalize your journey, you will complete the CPI260 competency-based psychometric assessment to help you identify any leadership blind spots.

Thursday, October 27 – Fundamentals: Quality: 8am – 5:00pm

  • This course will help you identify your communication style and will deliver actionable insights on how to best deliver your messages.

Friday, October 28 – Fundamentals: Influence: 8am – 5:00pm

  • This course will guide you towards better understanding your core values and vision, so you can inspire and better lead those around you.

      Saturday, October 29 – Fundamentals: Negotiation: 8am - 5:00pm

      • Learn to become a negotiation master with this course that will equip you with the proper tools needed to enter any situation with a strategy that maximizes the outcomes for all involved parties.

        Sunday, October 30 – Fundamentals: Communication: 8am – 12:00pm

        • Demystify the world of health care finance with the course that will help you accurately measure the financial health of your organization and help lead it to a brighter financial future.

          Online Self-Study – Fundamentals: Finance

          • Create consistent processes, systems, and outcomes with the skills provided in this course and learn about the history of quality in medicine.

          We are excited to announce new changes being implemented into our course structure for Fall Institute to better support your professional development. Once you have completed these courses, in addition to completing the course assessments and evaluations, you will be asked to submit an action plan that will identify and summarize the ways you intend to apply the course content to your practice. You will also be required to provide feedback on a peer’s action plan. You can expect to spend about two hours on these post-work activities per course in the series and will have four weeks following each course to complete them. It is important to note, completion of post-work activities will be required to receive your CME for each course.

          Fundamentals of Physician Leadership: Quality - October 27 (8 AM - 5 PM)

          • Assess quality as it relates to a consumer-centric health care system
          • Examine the elements of quality improvement theories and frameworks
          • Understand how the history of quality and safety have impacted current health reform
          • Identify the components needed to develop a culture of training

          Fundamentals of Physician Leadership: Influence - October 28 (8 AM - 5 PM)

          • Identify core values which guide leadership styles and decision making
          • Discover current leadership level and potential personal impact
          • Explore processes for leading a team, tribe, and organization
          • Develop strategies to maximize productivity of teams and individuals

           Fundamentals of Physician Leadership: Negotiation - October 29 (8 AM - 5 PM)

          • Uncover the proven step-by-step structure to negotiate anything
          • Analyze the three parameters that keep negotiators protected during a discussion
          • Understand exactly when to walk away from a negotiation
          • Develop strategies to create win/win situations for all parties

          Fundamentals of Physician Leadership: Communication - October 30 (8 AM - 5 PM)

          • Interpret non-verbal cues and specific words that can communicate intent
          • Determine personal communication style and personality type
          • Develop strategies for building relationships and working with others
          • Understand the four communication styles based on the DiSC psychometric assessment

          Fundamentals of Physician Leadership: Finance - Online Self-Study

          • Define and apply basic concepts of finance
          • Understand the four types of accounting
          • Analyze fiscal reports to evaluate organizational performance
          • Apply financial principles to make informed decisions

          Method Of Participation 

          To complete this program successfully and claim credit, participants must follow these steps: 

          • Read the educational objectives provided on the course summary page
          • Attend the sessions or watch all the video lectures for this course (if applicable)
          • Read any course materials and complete any required activities
          • Complete the course evaluation and post-test via your dashboard on the Association website. Successful completion of a given activity’s post-test requires a minimum 75% passing score prior to claiming CME credit, with three attempts allowed
          • CME certificates will be available for printing after claiming CME credit
          • Estimated time for course completion is equivalent to the CME credit hours
