If you’re an aspiring or current chief wellness officer or wish to take on a leadership role in regards to your organization’s wellness initiatives, this session is for you. For two days, you’ll learn how to achieve personal wellbeing and resilience and use that to craft an effective wellness program that promotes positive cultural change. 

Pre-work for this session will include completion of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Areas of Worklife Survey (AWS) as well as a series of questions related to yourself and organization.

Course Objectives

By the end of Day 1 participants will be able to: 

  • Identify the key elements needed to be an effective Chief Wellness Officer 
  • List the vital components of a successful wellness program
  • Identify the key factors predicting physician burnout and satisfaction
  • Apply a neuroscience-based framework to enhance their own resiliency and leadership capacity to engage effective organizational change
  • Begin to leverage an adaptive solutions-focused process for designing an effective physician wellness program (this work will be carried through on Day 2)

Upon conclusion of this program, participants will:

  • Be able to identify organizational practices that contribute to physician burnout.
  • Use an adaptive problem-solving strategy to implement change and design a customized wellness program to meet the needs of their organization (rather than a pre-defined rigid solution.)
  • List 5 best practices for healthcare wellness programs
  • Be part of a MasterMind Community designed to support each other and explore adaptive solutions to the dilemma of healthcare burnout. 

Method Of Participation 

To complete this program successfully and claim credit, participants must follow these steps: 

  • Read the educational objectives provided on the course summary page
  • Attend the sessions or watch all the video lectures for this course (if applicable)
  • Read any course materials and complete any required activities
  • Complete the course evaluation and post-test via your dashboard on the Association website. Successful completion of a given activity’s post-test requires a minimum 75% passing score prior to claiming CME credit, with three attempts allowed
  • CME certificates will be available for printing after claiming CME credit
  • Estimated time for course completion is equivalent to the CME credit hours

 

Key Dates

  • Course pre-work will be available before the Spring Summit.
  • The prework activities are designed to facilitate in-class discussions and learn how to use assessment results to drive organizational change.
