Welcome to American Association for Physician Leadership!
The American Association for Physician Leadership and the Aspen Program for Ethical Health Care Leadership are partnering to host a four-day conference that addresses some of the most challenging ethical dilemmas in health care.• How are ethical responsibilities affected by relationships within health care organizations?• What are the best ways to manage ethical tensions between physician and non-physician leaders with conflicting values?• Are there strategies and techniques to address ethical issues that arise when responding to natural disasters? The four-day event is broken into two parts:
The first part is a one-day, pre-conference Vanguard session hosted by AAPL. During the session, participants will aim to produce a pair of Vanguard Group statements that provide principled, practical and ethical guidance to physician leaders facing some of the aforementioned dilemmas. The second part is a three-day conference, called the Aspen Program for Ethical Health Care Leadership, which explores how ethical responsibilities and relationships between governing bodies, chief executives, senior managers, clinical leaders, and other key stakeholders in health care organizations can affect their ability to produce care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, patient-centered and equitable.
