Course Description
This course is designed to help learners develop deeper clarity about the nature, scope, and utility of emotional
intelligence, specifically as it relates to physician mindfulness and relationships in the healthcare context. Emotional intelligence encompasses a wide range of skills that not only reflect one’s ability to process emotions, but even more importantly, their ability to communicate with, manage, and influence others. In essence, emotional intelligence is all about optimizing relationships; and seeing as the functionality of healthcare systems rely solely on people, relationship is vital to what we do as physician leaders.
Course Objectives
- Apply knowledge of emotion and EQ competencies to devise strategies for improving holistic patient experience.
- Utilize pristine communications skills to strengthen relationships with patients, peers, and staff.
- Demonstrate self-awareness by evaluating one’s own behaviors and thought processes in the context of healthcare administration.
- Identify intrapersonal barriers to delivering better patient care and identify strategies to eliminate these barriers within oneself.
