Course Objectives
- By the end of this course, you should be able to do each of the following:
- Recognize ways in which skills and experiences from clinical work can be translated to nonclinical roles.
- Identify types of nonclinical job opportunities that are fitting for career goals, preferences, needs, and personal interests.
- Explore ways in which leadership skills can be applied to nonclinical careers.
- Outline an approach to transitioning to a nonclinical career or adding nonclinical work to a clinical career.
- Apply techniques to optimize resumes, networking behaviors, and interview responses for nonclinical roles.
Meet the Faculty
Sylvie Stacy received her MD from UMass Medical School and MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is board certified in general preventive medicine and in addiction medicine, a combination that has been advantageous for her work in correctional healthcare. She has been involved in a variety of nonclinical work that has led to an enthusiasm for all the unconventional ways that doctors can use their medical degrees and a passion for assisting other physicians in finding fulfilling careers by thinking beyond the bedside.
