Abstract
Leaders across healthcare have made great progress in automating administrative tasks, but there are still significant opportunities to increase efficiency and alleviate the burden for providers and health plans. For example, the medical industry can save more than $22 billion1 each year by fully automating just ten transactions–and a significant share of these savings are achievable for provider organizations. Industry collaboration is essential to accelerate automation and develop business processes that streamline operations. Through consensus-building efforts such as the CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange, stakeholders can transform healthcare for patients, providers, and health plans, and enable a more efficient system and a better experience for all involved.
