Abstract

Effective leadership, especially in complex and politically charged environments like healthcare organizations, requires more than just vision and decisiveness. Leaders must possess and exercise political skill, which involves understanding and positively influencing others, fostering genuine commitment rather than mere compliance, and building strong interpersonal relationships. Success hinges on the ability to navigate organizational politics with tact, inclusiveness, and transparency, rather than relying solely on one’s authority or personal agenda. Failure to do so can lead to isolation, resistance, and ultimately, the unraveling of initiatives and loss of trust and morale.
